The Warren is a dual occupancy project located in the bayside suburb of Parkdale.
The site was a typical corner block for the area, with near-flat topography and neighbouring trees that significantly influenced the design. These trees were later removed by the neighbour near the completion of construction.
The client brief called for two double-storey, modern dwellings, with the intention that each home would make a distinctive statement on the corner. Each dwelling comprises four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms with garages and an approximate floor area of 26 squares across two levels. Both homes feature master suites on the ground and first floors, alongside dual-level living spaces designed to offer flexibility for future occupants.
A bold, dark material palette was selected to create impact and differentiate the project from typical homes in the suburb at the time. A mix of textures, including brickwork, roughcast render and modern vertical cladding was carefully combined to provide contrast to create architectural interest.
